PAINTED TRUCKS

Short Blog today:  Trucks are the main means of transporting goods in Pakistan.  They are a sight to behold.  Decked in colorful, dingling metal plates and ornaments, covered with creative murals, outfitted with feathers and banners; cared for and loved as if they were living beings!  Did this tradition grow out of the treatment of the elefants or other beasts of burdens covered with expensive textiles showing off their owner's wealth?  Truck drivers indeed hold an elevated status among the workers in Pakistan.  Nowhere more than in the North of the country can these colorful vehicles be observed.  Enjoy this picture interlude.
